Psychiatric Evaluation

A psychiatric evaluation is an opportunity for a psychiatrist to understand the concerns of the patient and family and place this in the context of the person's heredity, development, physical health, culture and family. Psychiatrists are physicians educated in all areas of medicine who specialize in emotional and behavioral concerns. Evaluations at our office typically last 90 minutes and will include review of any treatment records and evaluations which are available. Dr. Nover will share his impressions with you and discuss options for treatment, if needed.

Psychological Testing

We can administer the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) adult and adolescent versions in our office and arrange for other testing as well.

Genetic Testing

Through a one minute cheek swab, we are able to analyze genes which affect psychiatric disorders and their treatment. This helps with finding effective and well-tolerated medications faster and suggests other treatments based on  your unique genetic profile. We have several laboratories at our disposal to find the best panel for your needs at the lowest cost.

Urine Testing for Drugs of Abuse and Medication Compliance

Using a highly sophisticated laboratory, we can customize a test panel suited for your needs. Confidentiality of test results will be discussed prior to testing.

Medication Treatment

Medication treatment is one modality available from a psychiatrist. Dr. Nover has expertise in treating problems with mood, anxiety, thinking, attention, and behavior. We do not provide treatment with Suboxone or Methadone.

Individual, Couples and Family Therapy

We have five therapists with our practice who are experienced in treating individuals, couples and families. All are licensed in their fields and have had years of experience working with adolescents and adults. Dr. Nover provides supervision to the therapists of the practice.

Family Interventions

Broderick President, M.A. and other clinicians can arrange an intervention to impress upon a person in distress that he/she has a caring support group who will help arrange treatment (in our office or in a more intensive setting) and will continue to provide support after the initial crisis period resolves. This may involve substance abuse problems, "failure to launch," abusive interactions or school problems.

Medical Hypnosis

Annmarie Crowell, L.C.S.W., is a licensed hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is a useful tool for those wishing to stop smoking, control eating, and learn to control habits. An initial 90 minute session is followed by a minimum of five additional 50 minute sessions.

Court & School Legal Services

We provide forensic and court evaluations for defense of criminal and juvenile court charges and civil and school matters. We would be happy to discuss our experience and arrangements for these services with you and your attorney. We also provide consultation to attorneys regarding mental health issues.
